In a small tin shed in suburban Melbourne over 80 years ago, Bob Sykes began creating decorative laminates. Over the years, Laminex’s product range expanded to include engineered stone, modern laminates, acrylic surfaces, timber panelling products and more. Laminex has grown up a lot since 1934, but the original intention has never changed – Laminex believes that every Australian deserves great quality products, and great quality design.

• Essastone Engineered Stone is an elegant surface manufactured in Europe from natural quartz with a stone like appearance and feel, that is highly resistant to stains and scratches. Essastone is ideal for benchtops, splashbacks, vanities and feature walls. Featuring beautifully veined marble looks, subtle and bold aggregates and industrial style concretes, the Essastone range offers endless design possibilites.

• Laminex Laminate is hardwearing, scratch & stain resistant with in-built antibacterial properties and it’s cost effective. Laminex Laminate has a great range of colours from whites and neutrals to Woodgrains, Minerals, Accent Colours and Metallics.
• Laminex Absolute Matte is a super matte, intriguingly tactile and fingerprint resistant surface for benchtops and cabinetry. AbsoluteMatte is available in High Pressure Laminate suitable for benchtops and high wear horizontal surfaces, or Panels suitable for cabinetry, panels and wall lining in vertical applications.
• Laminex PureGrain is a luxurious finish that combines a delicately woodgrain texture of painted timber with the durability, convenience and cost effectiveness of decorated board. It brings subtle organic beauty and a compelling tactility to vertical cabinet surfaces in kitchens and bathrooms. It can also be used to add the appearance of panted woodgrain for built-in wardrobes, desks, wall cladding and shelves.

Australian Made

Laminex is a proud Australian manufacturer with a network of Australian manufacturing plants covering seven locations across four states. High pressure laminate, compact laminate and wet-area panelling are made in the Melbourne bayside suburb of Cheltenham. A few hours west in Ballarat, Laminex manufactures decorated MDF used for cabinetry doors. Raw particleboard and MDF are made in Dardanup WA and Gympie QLD.

Innovation and Sustainability

Laminex business continues to invest in new technology to produce locally made products. This investment includes new manufacturing capabilities to begin local production of compact laminate and Laminex AbsoluteMatte, a major digital B2B sales platform and ongoing product range development.

Sustainable practices are an important part of Laminex’s manufacturing capabilities with the use of water based resins and water-based cleaning systems, sourcing of FSC certified papers and inputs from FSC certified forestry. Through partnerships with government and industry Laminex continues to pursue and test new innovations in sustainable and environmental practices.
